The scientific activity of the Department of Commodity Science, Customs and Quality Management is based on the scientific achievements of the Departments of Commodity Science, Technology and Quality Management of Food Products and Commodity Science and Expertise in Customs.

The Department of Commodity Science, Customs and Quality Management conducts thorough research in the areas of scientific schools:

Qualitative results of research topics and scientific activity of department teachers are participation in international, all-Ukrainian scientific-practical conferences, publication of professional articles and articles indexed in international scientometric databases, publication of monographs, defense of scientific dissertations and application of scientific research in the educational process:

  • organized and held on the basis of Lviv University of Trade and Economics as a result of research International Scientific and Practical Conference "Quality and safety of food and raw materials – the problems of today", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Ivan Syrokhman (September 25, 2020);
  • participated in co-organization of the I International Scientific and Practical Conference "Forensic Commodity Examination: Theoretical Developments, Practical Experience, Problems and Prospects" − on the basis of the Lviv Research Forensic Center (September 30, 2021);
  • participated in the co-organization and holding of the 10th International Scientific and Practical Conference "Innovations in the Management of the Range, Quality and Safety of Goods and Services" (LTEU, December 8, 2022);
  • a monograph was published: Lozova T.M. "Innovative scientific developments to improve the quality of food products based on flour". ‒ Lviv: Publishing House of the Lviv University of Trade and Economics, 2023. ‒ 238 p;
  • a monograph was published: Domantsevich N.I., Yatsyshyn B.P. Aging of polymeric materials: influencing factors, methods of research, modeling and forecasting of processes. Lviv: Publishing House of the Lviv University of Trade and Economics, 2023. 184 p.
  • organized and conducted by the Round Table "Technical regulation in the light of the European integration of Ukraine" department (March 27, 2023).

Research work of students majoring in 076 “Entrepreneurship, trade and exchange activities” is carried out in various forms of both scientific and cognitive nature, namely: participation in scientific and practical conferences, seminars, competitions, all-Ukrainian competitions of student research papers in Lviv University of Trade and Economics and beyond.

According to the results of student research, articles were published in journals and collections of scientific papers, including professional journals, abstracts in collections of materials of numerous conferences.

Students take an active part in the activities of scientific groups at the department, who provide presentations on problematic topics related to improving consumer properties, quality, food storage, developing an innovative range and improving the properties of non-food products and more.

Academic mobility of students

Students Andriy Koval, Dmytro Usyk and graduate students Andriy Lebedynets, Maksym Moroz, Diana Shelko Yaroslav Zayats underwent a training program with the Zhejiang Institute of Economics and Trade (People's Republic of China) as part of the Sino-Ukrainian Training Center for Economics and Trade.

The program was implemented to effectively promote the internationalization of universities in accordance with the state program of the People's Republic of China "One Belt, One Road" and lasted from May 17 to October 31, 2021.

As part of the training, students studied three disciplines of 16 academic hours each: introduction to e-commerce; electronic marketing; e-commerce site page layout.

At the end of the semester, an exam on the course "E-Commerce + Technology" was organized, as a result of which program participants received certificates.

In June 2022, applicants for higher education majoring in "Commodity Research and Expertise in Customs" Anna-Maria Cherniikina (3rd year) and Andriana Luchko (1st year) took part in the ERASMUS + project "TRANSFORM4EUROPE", conducted by professors of the University of Silesia (Poland) in English.
As part of the project, students studied the following topics: Change management; Intercultural management; Basic of Management.  Based on the results of their studies, acquired knowledge and professional competencies that will be useful in their future professional activities, Anna-Maria Cherniikina and Andriana Luchko received certificates.

On April 22-23, 2021, applicants for the second (master's) level of higher education of the OPP "Commodity Research and Expertise in Customs" Sviatoslav Synyshyn and Viktoriia Kravets took part in the VIII International Scientific and Practical Conference "Modern Materials Science and Commodity Research: Theory, Practice, Education" held at Poltava University of Economics and Trade and received certificates.

On April 29, 2021, applicant Lekh Lilia of the second (master's) level of higher education of the second (master's) level of higher education took part in the II International Scientific and Practical Conference "Marketing Strategies, Entrepreneurship and Trade: Current State, Directions of Development", and on October 28, 2022, applicant for the second (master's) level of higher education Heydarov Ruslan took part in the III International Scientific and Practical Conference "Marketing Strategies, Entrepreneurship and Trade: Current State, Directions of Development", held on the basis of the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture and received certificates.

On May 10, 2023, applicants for the second (master's) level of higher education of the OPP "Commodity Research and Expertise in Customs" Mashika Yulia, Kostyk Sviatoslav, Lutsio Karina, Kostetskyi Roman took part in a guest lecture "Global food security 2.0: Ukrainian wartime harvest" and received certificates.

On May 25, 2023, applicants for the second (master's) level of higher education majoring in "Commodity Research and Expertise in Customs" Mashika Yulia, Lutsio Karina, Kostetskyi Roman took part in a guest lecture "Artificial Intelligence in Business: Opportunities and Threats to Professional Competence" and received certificates.

In April-May 2023, within the framework of the Erasmus+ program, together with the partner Pontifical John Paul II University in Krakow, the University organized distance academic mobility for applicants for the second (master's) level of higher education in the study program "Commodity Research and Expertise in Customs" and the study program "Commodity Research and Commercial Activity" specialty 076 "Entrepreneurship and Trade". As a result, applicants Roman Kostetskyi, Yuliia Klymiv, Roman Pylypets, Dmytro Musulevskyi, Severin Vashchuk, Andrii Zborovskyi, Sofia Pokora, and Uliana Rubai attended lectures on "International Project Management: Practical Considerations" and "European Opportunities for Funding - the case of the Erasmus+ Program", completed individual tasks and received international certificates (1.0 ECTS credit).

In June 2023, within the framework of the Erasmus+ academic mobility project, together with the Opole University of Technology (Poland), the university organized distance academic mobility for applicants for specialty 076 "Entrepreneurship and Trade". As a result, applicants for the second (master's) level of higher education of the study program "Commodity Research and Expertise in Customs" (Roman Kostetskyi, Ihor Vovchastyi, Karina Lutsio, Yuliia Mashyka, Evelina Gabovda) and the study program "Commodity Research and Commercial Activity" (Severin Vashchuk, Kachur Rostyslav) attended the lecture "New Public Management and the Rhetoric of Users Satisfaction" and took 15 academic hours (0.5 ECTS credit) of classes according to the schedule of classes at the Opole University of Technology.

Applicants of the second (master's) level of higher education of the program "Commodity Research and Expertise in Customs" Yurii Pyshchyk, Serhii Soroka, Ilya Vovk, Nazar Boburchak and of the program "Commodity Research and Commercial Activity" Pokora Sofia and Slavnyi Yan took part in the round table "Social Responsibility of Business, Education and Science in the Time of War" and received certificates.

Applicants for the second (master's) level of higher education in the OPP "Commodity Research and Commercial Activity" Anna Tropak and Yan Slavnyi in November 2013, as part of the social innovation project "EDUCATIONAL HUB OF KYIV", took an online course "The Art of Teaching" in the amount of 30 hours (1 ECTS credit) and received certificates.
