The staff of the department of tourism and hotel and restaurant business are working on the implementation of research topics "Institutional and informational mechanism of strategic development of the hospitality industry" (state registration number 0117U002091) and "Formation of theoretical and methodological support for the development and functioning of the tourism industry of Ukraine in the conditions of European integration" (state registration number 0117U002092).

The qualitative results of the implementation of scientific research topics are the participation of teachers in conferences, the publication of scientific articles, the publication of monographs, the defence of theses and the application of scientific research in the educational process, in particular:

• II International scientific and practical conference "Sustainable development of tourism on the basis of partnership: education, science, practice" (October 27-29, 2021)
• collective monograph "The role and significance of the tourism and hospitality industry in the development of territories, communities, and the state" (Lviv: LUTE Publishing House, 2022. 264 p.)
• II International scientific and practical conference "Innovations, trends and challenges in the hospitality industry" (May 4-5, 2023)

All lecturers of the department of tourism and hotel and restaurant business take an active part in international projects, conferences, advanced training programs and internships.

The scientific and research work of students is carried out in various forms of both scientific and cognitive nature, namely: participation in scientific and practical conferences, seminars, Olympiads within the walls of the Lviv University of Trade and Economics and beyond. Based on the results of student research, articles have been published in professional publications, abstracts of reports in conference materials. Winners take an active part in the activities of the scientific circle at the department, in the framework of which they present presentation reports on problematic topics of sustainable and innovative directions of development in tourism and the hotel and restaurant industry.

Students participate as volunteers in the largest hospitality and hotel-restaurant business festival in Ukraine - "HoReCa Show Lviv", attend specialized exhibitions "TourEXPO", "UITT" and others . Every year, under the auspices of the Educational Tourist Center of the Department of Tourism and Hotel and Restaurant Business, students attend events dedicated to the "Days of European Heritage in the City of Lviv" at the Department of Tourism of the Lviv City Council and events of the Lviv Regional State Administration of Tourism and Resorts.
