    Faculty Overview

    Educational and Faculty of Economic and Management  is famous for the formation and augmentation of classical traditions of quality training in the trade and service sector of the national economy within the framework of state innovation policy aimed at reviving nation’s spiritual and intellectual potential.

    The history of the Institute of Economics and Finance began in 1940 when the Faculty of Accounting and Economics was established at Lviv Institute of Soviet Trade, where the Faculty of Economics was founded in 1957 by merging with the Faculty of Commerce and Economics, which in March 2003 was reorganized into the Institute of Economics and Finance of Lviv Academy of Commerce.

    As for Lviv Institute of Soviet Trade, it was established by reorganizing the Academy of Foreign Trade, which in 1947 together with the Ukrainian Institute of Cooperative Trade formed Lviv Institute of Trade and Economics, which in 1994 changed its name to Lviv Academy of Commerce, and in 2016 − to Lviv University of Trade and Economics.

    The Institute which consists of seven departments trains students under the degrees:

    Bachelor in specialties:

    “Finance, Banking and Insurance” (specializations: “Finance, Banking and Insurance”, “Finance”, “Insurance”, “Banking”);

    “Accounting and Taxation” (specializations: “Accounting and Taxation”, “Accounting, Analysis and Control of the Enterprise”, “Accounting, Audit and Taxation of the Company”);

    “Economics” (specializations: “Business Economics”, “International Economics”);

    “Entrepreneurship, Trade and Exchange Activity” (specialization: “Business Economics of Trade and Restaurant Business”);

    Master and Specialist in specialties:

    “Finance, Banking and Insurance” (specializations: “Finance, Banking and Insurance”, “Financial Management in Business”, “Insurance Management”, “Banking Management”);

    “Accounting and Taxation” (specializations: “Accounting and Taxation”, “Accounting, Analysis and Control of the Enterprise”, “Audit, Consulting and Taxation”);

    “Economics” (specializations: “Business Economics”, “International Economics”);

    “Entrepreneurship, Trade and Exchange Activity” (specialization: “Business Economics of Trade and Restaurant Business”);

    “Management” (specialization: “Financial and Economic Security Management”).

    The teaching staff of seven departments of the Institute consisting of more than 70 people, including 11 doctors and professors and more than 50 Ph.D. degree teachers run training for students.

    Over the past 10 years:

    The teaching staff of the Institute of Economics and Finance:

    - completed 45 research themes, 31 of which − with the state registration number;

    - defended 21 doctoral and 145 master theses;

    - published 684 scientific works, including 123 monographs, 42 chapters in monographs, 351 articles in nationwide journals, 63 − in foreign journals, 105 − in other foreign journals. Thus, 15 scientific articles are included in Scopus econometric database;

    - published 227 textbooks and 16 course books;

    - published more than 3.6 thousand theses;

    The students of the Institute of Economics and Finance:

    - got 64 diplomas of I, II and III levels for the victory in nationwide student Olympiads and competitions of research and diploma works;

    - published more than 1.0 thousand research works.
