History of the Department
The history of the Department of Foreign Languages of Lviv University of Trade and Economics (LUTE) is closely connected with the history of the formation and development of one of the oldest economic universities in Ukraine.
Officially, the Department of Foreign Languages, as a university structural unit, was established in 1941. However, its history, in the form of foreign languages university teaching (i.e. English, German, French, Polish and Italian), began with the period of founding of the Higher School of Commerce in 1899.
During this period the Department of Foreign Languages was headed by the prominent scientists and professional methodologists, including prof. Oleksandr DOMBROVSKYI, docent Ivan PAUK, docent Yekhel OPELBAUM, docent Yarema KRAVETS, docent Roman DUDOK, docent Zoia DANYLOVA.
Since September 2011, the Department of Foreign Languages is headed by Associate Professor, Ph.D. in Philology Nataliia KOVALYK.
