About the Department

The Department of Higher Mathematics and Quantitative Methods was established on August 31, 2016 after merging two departments of the university: the Department of Higher Mathematics, Econometrics and Statistics and the Department of Economic Forecasting and Risk.

The Department’s academic and research work covers a broad range of mathematical and economic issues, among them mathematical modelling in economics, theory of probability and econometrics, multivariate mathematical statistics, economic forecasting and risk theory, mathematical finance, optimization methods and operations research. The Department staff research results are published in the domestic and foreign journals. Moreover, the Department teachers have authored and co-authored numerous educational and methodological works.

The main goal of the department is to teach students to use mathematical methods for analysis and modelling of socio-economic processes. The staff of the department offer a number of courses for computer classes and distance learning. The lecturers are also research advisors to help students in writing degree theses. The department staff constantly work at improving the academic qualifications and teaching work. The effectiveness of training is provided by introducing the results of scientific research and practical knowledge into educational process.

The Department Staff is engaged in scientific and educational cooperation with the Department of Higher Mathematics at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University and National University "Lviv Polytechnic".
