History

The history of the Department of Accounting, Control, Analysis and Taxation dates back to 1899, when the educational institution was renamed the State Trade School in Lviv – more than 120 years ago.

The department has undergone various name changes and transformations, as well as headed by leading scientists and educators known in Ukraine and abroad.

In September 2020, in accordance with the order of the Rector of the University No. 205/01 dated 15.09.2020, the name of the Department of Accounting was changed to the Department of Accounting, Control, Analysis and Taxation. The head of the department is appointed Doctor of Economics, Professor Voronko Roman Mykhaylovych.

The department included scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of Accounting and the Department of Audit, Analysis and Taxation.

The main purpose of the Department of Accounting, Control, Analysis and Taxation since its inception and until now is the organization of scientific and methodic work and educational process, effective educational work, training and graduation of highly qualified professionals capable of working in a market environment.

The Department of Accounting, Control, Analysis and Taxation operates at the Institute of Economics and Finance of Lviv University of Trade and Economics and trains full-time and part-time specialists at 3 faculties and 2 institutes, where it teaches more than 40 disciplines.

Today, the Department of Accounting, Control, Analysis and Taxation is a graduate in the specialty 071 “Accounting and Taxation” for three educational and professional programs of the first (bachelor’s) and second (maste’s) levels of higher education and one educational and scientific program for doctors of philosophy.

The positive trend of the department is the publication of textbooks and manuals in many disciplines assigned to it, increasing the number of monographs, professional and scientometric publications, a significant increase in the number of defended dissertations, revival of student research and annual traditional victories and prizes at All-Ukrainian Olympiads, competitions of scientific works, etc.

The scientific researches of scientific and pedagogical workers of the department are carried out in cooperation with foreign and domestic higher educational establishments and business institutions.

Since 1954, the postgraduate course has been functioning at the department. During this period, more than 350 graduate students and 75 applicants completed postgraduate studies. From 1995, there was a council for the defense of dissertations of candidates of sciences / doctors of philosophy. The department has three scientific schools, the founders of which are: Doctor of Economics, Professor Kutsyk P. O., Ph. D., Professor Ozeran V. O., Doctor of Economics, and Professor Voronko R. M. Read.
